Combat to Corporate

Rebuilding Identity After the Uniform

Hi, I'm Daniel.

I spent eleven years as a Senior NCO in the British Army, learning that identity isn't what you wear; it's what you're built from. When I left the uniform behind, nobody prepared me for the hardest part: not finding a job, but figuring out who I was without one.

What followed was fifteen years inside some of the world's largest organisations, leading change programmes, building teams, and watching the same story repeat itself. Capable people, well-designed processes, and transitions that still broke people, because nobody was addressing what was actually shifting: identity.

That story doesn't belong only to soldiers. I've seen it in police officers stepping into management, NHS professionals burning out mid-career, elite athletes entering their first boardroom, and executives leading organisations through change they haven't personally processed yet. The system changes. The internal experience is remarkably similar.

This is where I work. Through writing, coaching, and practical tools built on real psychology rather than recycled frameworks, I help people in transition understand what is actually happening to them and build something more deliberate on the other side of it. The book is where the conversation starts. The community, the coaching, and the resources are where it goes deeper.

That's why this exists. Not another change management framework dressed up in new language. A real conversation about what transition demands of you, as a leader, as a professional, as a person. Grounded in psychology, shaped by experience, and written without the corporate filter.

Welcome. You're in the right place.

What You’ll Find Here

The Book

Combat to Corporate: The Rewiring is the book nobody handed me when I left the military. It is not a five-step guide or a motivational manual. It is an honest account of what transition actually demands of you, not just professionally, but at the identity level. If you are navigating life after a structured environment, this is where to start.

The Blog

Real thinking on transition, identity, leadership, and what it actually takes to rebuild yourself outside the system that shaped you. No corporate filter. No recycled frameworks. Written from experience and grounded in psychology.

Coaching

Transition is not a process problem. It is a people problem. If you are finding that the external stuff is falling into place but something underneath still feels unresolved- purpose, direction, identity, and confidence- that is exactly where coaching works. I work with veterans, professionals in career transition, and leaders stepping into new territory. One conversation can shift more than months of figuring it out alone.

Coming Soon — The Community

This is building toward something bigger. A membership community for people navigating transition — veterans, career changers, leaders between chapters — where the conversation continues, the support is ongoing, and you are not doing it alone. If you want to be first to know when it launches, get on the newsletter.
